Reach was born in 1974 and grew up playing the Shamisen (Japanese banjo) and being taught singing by his father.  After graduating from the Kyoto Conservatoire of Music majoring in percussion, he joined a professional group, Matsurishu, in Kyoto, Japan, and became a musical director. Now he is a member of Pro Musica Nipponia, a professional ensemble specializing in classical Japanese music while being busy composing, performing and organizing many concerts with other professional groups such as Wa San Bon. As a Shamisen player and a percussionist he has been invited to perform in Germany, Austria, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Belgium.
